Insight on Climate Change and Resiliency of Filipinos

One of the main reasons for the sudden and gradual changes in the environment is human activity, like cutting down too many trees, pollution, and using too many natural resources. In the Philippines, illegal logging and turning forests into farms or housing areas remove the natural protection we have against floods and landslides. On top of that, smoke from cars, factories, and burning trash releases greenhouse gases that make the Earth hotter. This makes storms stronger and the weather harder to predict, which puts many communities in danger.

Another big reason is where the Philippines is located. Our country is in the Pacific Ring of Fire and the typhoon belt, which means we naturally experience earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and many typhoons every year. Because of climate change, these disasters are becoming worse. We experience higher sea levels, longer dry seasons, and stronger typhoons like Yolanda. These problems damage crops, destroy homes, and force families to leave their communities, especially those near the sea.

Even with these challenges, Filipinos are known to be strong and resilient. Many communities join disaster drills, plant trees, and practice proper waste segregation to help reduce the effects of climate change. But being resilient is not enough because we also need to prevent more damage to the environment. This means following environmental laws, using clean energy, and living more sustainably. If we work together, we can lessen the impact of climate change and protect the future for the next generation.
